Introduction to High Dynamic Range (HDR) Photography
OVERVIEW

Ever want to have an image that contains a wide variety of contrasts from the levels of darkness in the shadows all the way to the brilliance of the late afternoon sun?  This is possible through the Unique Universiy class "Introduction to HDR."

High Dynamic Range (HDR) photography is a set of techniques that allows a greater range between the light and dark areas of a scene that is different from standard digital manipulation. The intention of HDR is to accurately represent the wide range of intensity levels found in real scenes ranging from direct sunlight to shadows.

Using multiple images with varying exposures, students will use photo-manipulating software to apply exposure blending and tone mapping and turn "the real" into the surreal.
